The most common question we get from a new customer in Round Lake or Grayslake isn't about price — it's 'how often should you come?' There's no single right answer, but there is a right answer for your house, and it comes down to three things: how many people and pets live there, how much cooking and traffic the kitchen and bathrooms see, and how much you're willing to do yourself between visits.
Weekly cleaning is for the busy house. Two working parents, school-age kids, a dog or a cat, a kitchen that gets used three times a day — that house generates a week's worth of crumbs, hair, fingerprints and bathroom grime every seven days, and a weekly visit resets it before it builds. Weekly customers tell us the real benefit isn't just a clean house; it's that they stop spending their Saturday morning cleaning it. It's also the schedule we recommend for anyone with allergies, because dust and pet dander never get a chance to accumulate.
Biweekly cleaning is our most popular schedule, and it fits most families in Lake County. Every other week is enough to keep kitchens and bathrooms properly clean, floors done and dust under control, as long as you do a little light upkeep in between — wipe the counters, run the vacuum over the high-traffic spots, keep the bathroom sink from getting away from you. On a biweekly schedule we also rotate through the details: baseboards one visit, ceiling fans and light fixtures the next, window sills and the inside of the microwave after that, so over a couple of months the whole house gets deep attention without a deep-clean bill.
Monthly cleaning suits a smaller home, a couple without kids or pets, an empty-nester house, or anyone who genuinely enjoys keeping up with the everyday stuff and just wants the bathrooms, the kitchen and the floors done properly once a month. It's the least expensive schedule, but be honest with yourself about the four weeks in between — a monthly visit to a house with three kids and a golden retriever is really a deep clean every month, and it's priced like one.
Whatever the schedule, the first visit is different. A house that hasn't been professionally cleaned in a while needs a deep clean to bring it up to standard — baseboards, grout, fixtures, the inside of the appliances — and then the recurring visits keep it there. We price that first visit as a deep clean and every visit after it at the recurring rate, and we tell you both numbers before we book.
A few things change the math. Pets add hair and dander and usually push a house one step up the schedule. A new baby, a home office, or a kitchen that's used for serious cooking does the same. Seasons matter in Illinois, too: spring brings the mud and the pollen, fall brings the leaves and the closed windows, and the holidays bring guests — most of our recurring customers add a one-time deep clean before Thanksgiving whatever their schedule.
The good news is that none of this is permanent. Start biweekly and go weekly if it isn't keeping up; drop to monthly for the summer when the kids are at camp; skip a visit when you're away. A schedule should fit your life, not the other way around.
